The One With Dr. Jon

The other day I noticed that my poor little baby Titan (gag.. I know, but I don't have kids so this is what you get) had this pretty good size cut on his back leg. Jon thinks he got it from running and hiding behind the storage shed in the back yard, but seriously, who knows, I mean he's a dog. Anyway, so Jon decided to play doctor..Jon loves playing doctor.. and fixed him right up.

The One With the Police Officers Memorial and Family Reunion

"Carved on these walls is the story of America, of a continuing quest to preserve both democracy and decency, and to protect a national treasure that we call the American dream."- President George Bush

A few weekends ago the Wright family had a family reunion in Utah to attend the dedication of Utah's Law Enforcement Memorial. It was an incredibly moving experience and gave me even more respect for our law enforcement. I met up with the family on Friday to watch my Grandpa and his brother and sister cement their father's plaque into the memorial. Seth F. Wright died in the line of duty transporting a prisoner from Texas back to Utah in 1960. The act of cementing on the plaques by the families had been happening all week and there were 2 guards at the memorial for every minute of it. I thought that was really respectful and special. After the cementing a bunch of the old timers and myself went to an Italian dinner in Bountiful. So sweet. I love my family, they are hilarious. After dinner we went to a "world famous" frozen custard place in Bountiful. They had a walk up order place and also a counter inside. Well I ordered mine outside and I noticed my Dad at the counter inside so when it came time to pay I told this kid that the guy with the white shirt was picking up my tab. The kid thought I was UBER shady. Jokes on him, Dad paid. Ha. Saturday morning I met my family at the state capitol again for the actual dedication of the memorial. There were TONS of people and law enforcement to support these heroes. The Governor and also Pres Packer spoke. They had arranged for 126 current law enforcement men to stand on a hill behind the memorial to represent the 126 fallen officers. My grandpa was able to stand in for his father on the hill. There was a tear, not gonna lie. :) The speaker mentioned something about how because of these fallen officers we are able to sleep in our beds at night, our children are able to play in the streets and that we are able to have some peace of mind in this world. It was very moving. All give some, some give all. After the dedication we went to eat Mexican food and had a nice time. Saturday night was the annual raffle, where I did not win a quilt!! I'm bummed. I stuffed those cans with tickets. :( I did happen to sit by my great-great aunts husband Olie and he kept stealing drinks from my Diet Dr Pepper. I love silly old men. Ha. Anyways, it was great to see the fam and have good times but also remember and celebrate the lives and sacrifice of those fallen officers. I know I am appreciative and also very proud.

The One With The Pig

So last weekend was our ward luau. It was a lot of fun..good job Heather!! We had great food, and great entertainment, but my favorite part was the pig. A girl in our ward cooked a whole pig in her oven!! Can you imagine.. a pig in your oven! It was seriously so neat. A lot of people, including Heather, were pretty grossed out by it, but Jon and I were loving it. So here he is..or she..our poor little pig aka dinner.

The One With the Best Sedona Trip Ever!!

Ok so yesterday was by far my favorite trip to Sedona. We, Heather, Jon, and myself, all went up there to pick up a cake. Last year Kassi and Scott got married up there, and to make a long story short we ate all of their cake, Kassi was real mad because she really didn't get to eat any of it, and let me tell you it was amazing. Anyway, so Heather had a really good idea to reorder their exact same cake and give it to them on their anniversary as a peace offering. We figured it would be fun to go up there and hike around Oak Creek before picking it up. Boy am I glad we did. We found a couple of fun places and just made our own trail.. my fave. It was getting close to the time that we had to go get the cake so we decided to head back to the car. Jon was trying to find the same place that we had gone last time but we weren't sure where that was. When we were almost back to the car Jon saw it a little ways down the creek. It's "our spot". It seriously is a really pretty part of the creek and it even has this huge rock that is perfect for pictures. He really wanted to go down there and take a few pictures together. He asked Heather to stay on the other side while we crossed over to the rock. We took a couple of pictures and I was ready to go. He was acting kind of funny and wanted to keep taking pictures and then all of a sudden he dropped to one knee and pulled out a ring!! I looked at Heather, both were completely shocked, and then looked back to him. He yelled to Heather to take pictures and then went on with the proposal. I was so surprised and so happy. It was perfect. I don't think that it has completely sunk in yet that we are actually, finally getting married. I love him so much and can't wait to spend forever with him!

The One in Boise

To carry on in my effort to be a good person, I made the trip to Boise this past weekend to visit my family and help my grandma with her garage sale. Its probably a 5 hour car ride, sweet right...yeeeaaaah. "Met" some sweet peeps on the road, I hate when people try to talk to you as you are driving down a highway going 95 mph..Oh and this is CLASSIC ARI. I exited to use the facilities. I turn left off the highway to go over the bridge to the truck stop. Instead of turning on the road to the truck stop i accidentally turned back onto the highway but going the wrong way. I had to drive 20 miles to turn back around. That isn't as bad as when Audri drove to California when she was trying to go to a salon on Estrella Pkwy...hahahahaha...anyways..
I arrive in Boise and my cousin and his friend decide we should go play pool at their fav bar. WHITE TRASH. Everyone there was "stare worthy". This broad was my favorite, she was constantly laying on the floor or doing back bends on the chairs (as documented) or even laying down in the middle of peoples pool games...beyond wasted. I don't know if you can tell but she is wearing a teal bra with a camo TUBE top. Straps in all their glory just hanging out up top...The weekend was full of good ol fashioned WT moments.. My Grandma is the best though and I love talking to her. She tells the most random sweet stories about "her day" and where we get our ankles and hands and face from..I have "Wolfe" ankles (her side of family). It was a good time. Gotta love the land o the potatoes.

The One With The Limo

So this past weekend I took a little jaunt to North Carolina! I went to visit G.I. Brandon (see Vegas post about me and Heather's patriotic duty haha). Anyways, had a fab time in good ol Fayetteville, NC, humidity and all! Every other building is literally a church, it was just like home. Haha. Anyways, Brandon wasn't able to take me to the airport for my departing flight on Monday because of his job. So I research rides (its an hour and a half..) and a taxi service ended up being only $10 more than renting a car. I reserve my ride and I'm set. Monday morning the service calls me and tells me they double booked my Cadi and they were out of cars so they had to upgrade me for free to a Limo. Sweet right? Well the guy pulls up to B's house in a stretch limo. HAHAHAHAHAHA, straight up i'm going to prom!? It was soooo funny. I'm driving through rural North Carolina in this stretch limo. I made him take me to a gas station so i could use the ATM, everyone was starring. After the pit stop to the gas station, we get back on the highway and BAM, car breaks down!! I guess something was wrong with the battery. At this point I'm getting nervous because we are starting to cut it close for my flight (not that i would have minded another night..). Jon the driver got it all fixed up after probably 20 min of tinkering. We're on the road again and I strike up a convo with Jon. Turns out he lived 3 miles from my dad's house for 35 years before moving to North Carolina 3 years ago. AND his nephews both went to my high school. S M A L L W O R L D. That whole weekend was full of adventures and so to top it off with the sweetest limo ride ever was perfect. Cherry on top if you will.

The One With The Goobster!

So I was driving along State St today...Minding my own business and guess who I run into!?
A truck that looks exactly like THE GOOBSTER!! Fun Fun FUN memories. That truck was the illist, probably got 86 miles to the gallon. It would jingle when you turned the lights on, went through the car wash or turned left. I could run into things and no one would even notice. It was the host of "That Night". Ahhh memories. What I wouldn't give to run into the Golden Deluxe Whore Mobile...

The One with the Fourth of July Adventures

So this year we decided to go to Jon's family reunion on the res. I've heard a lot of stories about the res from Jon, but in the almost 6 years that we have been dating we've never gone. Ari and I went once but this time I got to have my own Indian guide. It was a lot of fun. I got to see where Jon spent his summers and meet some of his family. They are all really nice and it was neat to hear them speak Navajo. I think they were talking about me some of the time but I think it was good because it made Jon smile. After spending most of the day up there we started to head home and stopped in Sedona for a while. So beautiful! A long day, but so much fun. Here are a few pics.

The one with Utah adventures

So I've fallen off the edge of the earth or put more simply moved to Utah. Lets recap some of the many adventures that have happened in the last week.

1. Hung out with my boy Nate. Nate is one of my besties here, we go to church together, watch superman and face paint. He is very precious and autistic and most importantly, seriously the definition of a friend. So this is on one of our "dates", first we went to Crown Burger, than to Home Depot and than face painting. Sweet date if you ask me. He is the best, loves Superman, Back to the Future and "face painting with pretty girls." How do you not love that.

2. Cascade Springs

So guess what. This is a short drive from my house. Its up American Fork Canyon probably 30 minutes but the canyons in Utah are freakin beautiful anyways so you don't realize you've been driving for 30 minutes because...yeah you guessed it. HEAVEN. A friend and I went up here and walked around, its a natural spring and is in pristine condition. SOOOOO PRETTY!! I def want to go back for a picnic very soon. While we were walking around we saw 2 people taking a nap in the really tall grass. You could barely see them, I thought that was funny and I guess cool but it honestly made me want to pull a trick on them for sleeping in a kind of public place. Maybe cover them with grass, i don't know. I didn't have time to think of anything because I'm 25 now and i guess that means i can't pull pranks on strangers anymore. At least that is what the kid i was with told me. Hmmm doesn't seem like he really knows Ari. ANYWAYS...

3. Wallyworld adventures

Late Late LATE one night a couple of friends and I decided that we needed some goods so we ventured to the good ol 24 hour walmart. My friend Rich is a waiter at Red Robin and decided that he was too tired to walk and had to get the motorized cart. This isn't embarrassing to me because i used to pull this crap all the time because of my dear peeps Heather Isaac and Nicholas Hilton. (they have even had races). Anyways, we were walking/driving down the home section and this very cute little toddler just hopped on with Rich! Ummmm it was like 1 am...what is up with that?? His mom was a pretty hard looking woman and just thought it was the cutest thing that her son ran up and jumped onto the cart with a stranger. Rich is a precious guy so he took the little guy for a ride while Victoria, Rich's girlfriend and I talked to the mom. It was pretty random, it was funny and it was just another night at walmart.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST...

4. BABY AUDRI IS MOVING OUT!!!! WHAT?!?!?!

So when did my sister stop her obsession with Fox and the Hound and decide to effing grow up, graduate high school, choose her major (dentist) and MOVE OUT?! She just beez too little for all of this. I remember the days when she was 2 and would get up by herself in the mornings, finagle her way into her high chair and wait there with a scowl on her face for someone to come and find her and feed her. If you even looked at her all she would say was "i wan sum eggs" just like that. She would even say it all ornery. So funny. When she would pray for our dinner and describe the food to Heavenly Father individually, "please bless the little green balls.." When her favorite game in the world was to be my maid, i loved that game too. She loved Barney, she loved her dinosaur shorts, and Good Time's Aladdin. But NOOOOO she has to be a grown up now. She is starting ASU in the fall and moving out with her best friend this week. She is amazing, my closest friend and my little grown up. High Fiiivaaah!!

The One With Buddy

The other day Jon and I had the funniest thing happen to us. My parents had gone out of town and had asked me if I would come over a couple of times a day to take care of the dog. Of course I said yes seeing as how she really is my dog. For those of you who know her.. cute little Sparkles.. can you believe she is still around?! Crazy I know! Anyway, so Jon and I went over there one morning to let her out. When I got there the landscapers were hard at work. I knew that she might freak out if I put her in the back where they were working so I decided to take her out front. Little Sparkles was sniffing around getting ready to do her thing when this fat little dog came running towards us. I wasn't sure how she was going to handle that and I didn't want her to have a heart attack or anything so I quickly picked her up and headed back inside. The crazy little dog seeing me leave sped up to catch us so naturally so did I. Before I could turn around to shut the door this mangy little mutt was now running through my parents house! I was freaking out! I was yelling for Jon to come help me get this dog out. Jon thought is was pretty funny. He grabbed him and checked out his tags and told me that it was the neighbors and his name was Buddy. Oh I almost forgot to mention..Buddy is probably the ugliest dog I have ever seen. I love dogs, I pretty much love all dogs. I would probably adopt any dog offered to me, but he was so gross. He had these huge bulging eyes, a three to four inch tongue that stuck straight out of his mouth, slobber and boogers all over his smashed little face, and he sounded like a pig. Ya pretty disgusting. But despite all of that I still felt bad for the little guy since it's like 10 million degrees outside and I figured somebody loves him, so Jon and I took him back home. It would be nice if the story ended there but it didn't. Nobody was home of course so Jon decided that he would just stick him back in the back yard. That would have been nice except for it was locked and it was this rod iron fence that would have been hard to jump. I couldn't do it and Jon's ankle is still all messed up. While we were trying to figure out what to do, another black pug came running up to the fence and started in with his little snort/bark thing. His name was Moses. These people didn't have just one of these ugly things, they had two! Anyway, Jon told me to lift Buddy over the fence and hand it off to him so he could lower him to the ground. It worked! Now obviously this sneaky little dog had gotten out before, because there was chicken wire, and metal and wooden stakes lining the bottom of the gate. Maybe they should get a new gate or lock the dogs up or something.. I don't know just an idea. I just hope the next time he figures a way out I'm not around to find him. It made us laugh though.. it was good times. ( That's not an actual picture of Buddy, but it's close)

The one with Ari's birthday

Today is a blessed day! A long long..long time ago, 25 years to be exact, our little baby Aristella Melissa Wright was born. We had her birthday celebration Memorial Day weekend when she came down for her sisters graduation. It was so fun! We all made her the best cake ever!! Scott, our master cake decorator, made sure it fit her perfectly. She was so moved by all of our love and effort that she considered moving home and cried like a wee babe. We all love her so much and are grateful that she is a part of our lives. We are especially glad that she chose this day to FINALLY come out of her mothers pah-china! Happy Birthday!! Love you miss you xoxo!

I saw this today on my way home. It made me smile and think of my silly friends.(by Donna)

the one with all of the vegas vacations

Once upon a time we all decided that we loved Las Vegas. It geographically makes sense to meet there and of course, the memories to be had. Like this delightful gentleman. He isn't an entertainer, he is just blessed with kickin style...

There was the time with David's wedding...The sweet Elvis impersonator..The limo up on blocks behind the Las Vegas Garden of Love Wedding Chapel..or when we all thought it was a fantastic idea to run into the middle of the road to take pictures by the Las Vegas sign.

Or our last trip a few weeks ago. This is the one with the culture and Supporting Our Troops. Jon found his people!! (it WAS a casino...)

Or the Improv! Don't worry about Jon, his ankle was just sprained..

Our beautiful little brown girl named Donna and her photo shoot at the hotel.

The One With Our Family Story

Everyone has their biological families and a lucky few are blessed with another. This is our story. Donna and Ari met 10 years ago at a high school volleyball game. Stupid jokes were told, laughter was had and a life long friendship began. These two became inseparable. Cruising for hookers in the "Golden Deluxe," door bell ditching and crazy night adventures were some of their favorite things to do. Eventually graduation came and it was time to move forward. During this process both girls decided to attend the singles ward. Donna, through some friends, met a little (26 years old) Indian boy named Jon Canyon. He was the Sunday school teacher at the time and told the funniest stories. Now I wouldn't say that it was love at first sight, but a very close friendship was made. Both knew that there was something special about the other. Latin dancing, spontaneous adventures and "special occasions" eventually led to l-o-v-e. During that time Ari wanted Donna to check out a new singles ward with her, and there she was, Heather. Now they had seen this girl around the social scene before, but were pretty sure they didn't like her. When you're apart of a twosome sometimes it's hard to let others in. They had pretty much decide for themselves that she was mean, but thankfully "Tiffany's Sunday" occurred. All because of a ring from Tiffany's Donna and Ari decided to give this girl a chance. Ari and Heather had a mutual friend and one night at a dinner they bonded. Then came Kassi, Heather's little sister. They had some crazy nights too. Grocery cart fires, stealing TVs and stupid boys were just some of the many memories. Ari and Heather thought that it might be fun to have secret trips and adventures but the truth always came out. Two more members of the Clan! Shortly after, Ari decided that she really didn't love them anymore and moved to Utah. Just kidding- in all actuality she had a job offer that she couldn't refuse. Around the same time Donna was looking for a place to live, and Heather had an extra room. Both being a little apprehensive about the decision, not knowing one another very well, decided to take a chance. Needless to say they also found l-o-v-e and celebrated their 1 year anniversary in Hawaii of last year. During this time Heather, Donna and Kassi lived together and shared in some of the most memorable times ever. Kassi decide that she wanted a man and Jon had mentioned his roommate Scott. Now Heather had never seen him before and wasn't sure that he was real. She thought maybe Jon and Donna are just making him up as a joke. One night when they were taking Jon home after playing tennis they saw that Scott was home too. Seeing this as the perfect chance to finally meet this mystery man Heather and Kassi wanted to go in. Donna had mentioned before that Scott was amazing on the guitar, and even could play a Britney Spears song. This caught Kassi's attention right away. After proof that he did exist and a little persuading he played. Kassi was hooked. They started dating shortly after and in August of 2007 they were married in Sedona. So this is it..their story. A different but wonderful little family. All are looking forward to more memories, more laughter, and of course more additions.
